Governance and Leadership

The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) has a governance structure that provides transparency and accountability.

In working to create a safer Ontario, TSSA is accountable to the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, the individuals and businesses we regulate and to all Ontarians.

Memorandum of Understanding

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) exists between the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement and TSSA. The MOU and the Schedules clarify each organization’s roles, duties, and responsibilities in ensuring compliance with the Technical Standards and Safety Act.

Governance and Leadership

Our governance and leadership structure consists of a 13-member Board of Directors, and an Executive Leadership Team.

A Safety and Risk Officer independently reviews and assesses the way we administer our public safety responsibilities.

Statutory Directors administer the Technical Standards and Safety Act, its associated regulations, and Minister’s Orders made by the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery. Any order signed by a Statutory Director is legally binding.

General Operation Bylaw

We have a General Operating Bylaw (pdf) relating to the conduct of the affairs of the TSSA.

Corporate Policies

We are committed to a culture of openness and transparency. To help create trust and confidence for our stakeholders and the public, we publish the Corporate Policies that govern our business operations and accountabilities.
