The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) establishes all training and certification requirements to legally practice in six regulated industries in Ontario:
In order to perform regulated work such as installation, maintenance, alternation, etc. for equipment, devices or systems in these industries, it is a regulatory requirement to hold a Certificate of Qualification issued by TSSA.
All certificates issued by TSSA have certain training and/or practical experience requirements, as well as the requirement to complete at least one written examination that relates to the scope of certification.

The TSSA issues Certificates of Qualification for individuals to legally work in TSSA’s regulated industries.
In most instances, the completion of at least one certification examination is one of the pre-requisites for certification.
