TSSA’s Fuels Safety Program regulates the transportation, storage, handling and use of fuels in Ontario including natural gas, propane, fuel oil, gasoline, diesel, butane, hydrogen, digester gas, and landfill gas.
TSSA carries out inspections and licenses pipelines, gas stations, propane filling stations, marinas and tanker trucks.
TSSA issues licences to operate fuel facilities and pipelines, registers contractors and certifies tradespersons who install and service fuel-burning equipment.
TSSA reviews and approves facility plans for TSSA-licensed sites and performs custom equipment approvals and inspections to ensure fuel is handled and used safely.
TSSA investigates incidents and reports of non-compliance and provides technical expertise to industry stakeholders, safety partners and consumers.
